MCL fuels India’s Champions Trophy

Hockey India has announced Mahanadi Coalfields Limited as a principal partner of the forthcoming Champions Trophy men’s national team tournament.

MCL, a subsidiary of Coal India Limited, has an established presence the sport as co-owner of Hockey India League team Kalinga Lancers.

Financial terms for the agreement were not disclosed as MCL joined mining group National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) and Tata Steel as a recent addition to the Champions Trophy commercial roster. The competition will be title sponsored by motorcycle manufacturer Hero, which is also the naming partner of the Hockey India League.

The Champions Trophy runs from December 6-14 in Bhubaneswar and features the Netherlands, Germany, Argentina, England, Belgium and Pakistan alongside defending champion Australia and host India.
