McDonald’s has signed an agreement to become a national partner of the Sochi 2014 Paralympic winter Games.
Under the agreement, the global fast food chain will work to aid the development of the Paralympic movement and the prestige of Russian Paralympic sport.
During the forthcoming Sochi 2014 Games, two purpose-built McDonald’s restaurants will serve athletes in the Olympic village and media centre and the company will identify employees from across Russia to provide services for guests and participants at the event.
McDonald’s Olympic association dates back to 1968 and it is a Worldwide TOP Partner of the International Olympic Committee.
In a reflection of its agreement with the Paralympics, the restaurant chain will be able to use the marks of the Paralympic Games and the Russian Paralympic teams in Russia until the end of 2014 and 2016 respectively.
Sochi 2014 organising committee president Dmitry Chernyshenko said: “McDonald's has long been known for its charitable and social projects. This includes promotion of Olympic and Paralympic values and an active lifestyle as well as the development of children's sport.
“The experience gained by the company over many years in supporting the Games will make a great contribution to the first ever Games without barriers in Russia.”
