Sochi 2014 connects with Rostelecom for Paralympics

Russian telecommunications company Rostelecom has signed an agreement to become the telecommunications partner of the Sochi 2014 Paralympic winter Games.

Rostelecom will prepare infrastructure and ensure advanced telecommunication services are available to organisers, participants and guests at the Games.

The company will lay more than 300 kilometres of fibre optic cable, while observing environmental protection measures to preserve the surrounding Krasnodar region, and connect 35 Olympic venues to its network infrastructure.

As a national partner of the Paralympic Games, Rostelecom will be able to use Paralympic Games marks in its Russian promotions until the end of 2014, while it benefits from those of the Russian Paralympic team until December 31, 2016.

The Sochi 2014 Paralympic Games will take place between March 7-16 and are currently supported by 23 companies in a record-breaking Paralympic marketing programme that is worth more than $90m (€66.2m) to the organising committee.
