Global payment company MasterCard has signed on as the sixth and final worldwide partner of the 2015 Rugby World Cup, which takes place in England next year.
MasterCard will be the preferred card and official payment system of the tournament, which runs between September 18 and October 31, 2015. The announcement continues a successful partnership between MasterCard and tournament organising body Rugby World Cup Limited, which began ahead of the 2011 World Cup in New Zealand.
Today’s news also means that MasterCard has joined fellow 2011 top-tier partners Emirates, Land Rover, Societe Generale, DHL and Heineken in extending their commitment through to the 2015 competition.
Ann Cairns, president of international markets for MasterCard Worldwide, said: “Rugby World Cup is a truly priceless event for rugby fans around the world and we are looking forward to developing ways that we can bring this partnership to life for our cardholders and partners in 2015.”
As part of the agreement, MasterCard secures a comprehensive rights and benefits package that allows the company to deliver value to customer financial institutions, merchants and cardholders, including the ability to access ‘Priceless’ experiences linked to Rugby World Cup 2015.
