Formula One motor racing team Manor Marussia has entered into a partnership with music streaming service Shazam.
Shazam has been named the team’s official music partner for the 2016 season, where it is set to receive branding on the Manor cars.
Manor Marussia will work with Shazam to improve its fan experience through the medium of music. The agreement ties in with the team’s enhanced fan engagement strategy.
Though the partnership becomes effective next year, Shazam’s branding will also feature on the team’s cars at this weekend’s season-closing Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
“Already we are working hard on developing an innovative programme that will enable fans to get even closer to the team – and the world of F1 generally – through music,” Abdulla Boulsien, director of Manor Marussia, said. “Shazam is very much a next-generation brand and it is exciting for us to be tapping into as yet unchartered territories in F1 and discover new audiences.”
Miles Lewis, senior vice-president of Shazam, added: “At Shazam we see sport and entertainment as intricately connected and we believe music can form the bridge between the two. As we continue to actively expand across media platforms, we are excited to work with Manor’s digital infrastructure and build bridges with Manor’s fan base and more broadly into the sport.”
