Energy group Mainova has been named title sponsor of the Ironman European Championship triathlon event, which is held annually in the German city of Frankfurt.
Mainova has agreed a three-year deal with the Ironman organisation. Under the agreement, the 2016, 2017 and 2018 editions of the event will officially be titled Mainova Ironman European Championship.
Along with extensive brand exposure, Mainova will support the IronKIDS youth event, which will take place in the week leading up to the main race.
“The Ironman European Championship in Frankfurt is one of the absolutely most important and best events of the Ironman series worldwide,” Hans-Peter Zurbrügg, managing director of Ironman in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, said. “The event has become an outstanding platform, through the variety of athletes, the great spectator attendance and the growing media presence. The very strong regional ties and the interconnection of energy and sustainability make Mainova the perfect partner.”
This year’s Ironman European Championship will take place on July 3. It will mark the 15th edition of the race since its inception.
