Australian A-League football club the Newcastle Jets has teamed up with the mobile phone and tablet company Alcatel Onetouch ahead of the upcoming 2015-16 season.
As part of the deal, the Jets will display the company’s branding on the back of its away jerseys. The length of the agreement was not disclosed.
Alcatel Onetouch and the Jets will also put on fan engagement events at the club’s home games.
“This deal definitely demonstrates the continued and growing support we’re receiving from the corporate sector,” said David Eland, the Jets’ interim chief executive.
Meanwhile, Football Federation Australia (FFA) has confirmed that the Jets will remain under its control for the start of the 2015 A-League campaign.
The club is in the midst of being sold to an international group but the process is yet to be completed.
An FFA spokesperson said: “We have reached broad agreement on the sale, but the process won’t be finished by the time the Jets kick off against the Wellington Phoenix in round one (on October 11).
“We’d expect the additional time required will be a matter of weeks, rather than months.”
