Financial services firm J.P. Morgan Asset Management has extended its title sponsorship of the Isle of Wight’s Round the Island Race sailing event for two years, up to and including 2016.
J.P. Morgan has sponsored the annual June race, which is organised by the Island Sailing Club, for the past nine years.
The renewed deal underscores J.P. Morgan’s commitment in sailing, as it also sponsors five-time Olympic gold medallist and 2013 America’s Cup winner Ben Ainslie and holds the naming rights for his BAR team in the Extreme Sailing Series. ISC Commodore John Dudley believes such a high-profile presence is beneficial to the Round the Island Race
He said: “Over the past nine years of J.P. Morgan's sponsorship, the Round the Island Race has developed beyond everyone's expectations with new technological initiatives being introduced, alongside fundamental improvements such as the provision of free water taxis to ferry competitors from berth to boat and back. We have also been fortunate to enjoy hosting Sir Ben Ainslie, also sponsored by J.P. Morgan, and the Race media coverage has broadened as a result.”
