Conmebol, football’s governing body in Latin America, has appointed the IMG agency to market the sponsorship rights to its Copa Libertadores knockout club competition.
The two-year deal will cover the 2017 and 2018 editions of the tournament.
The Copa Libertadores has already established commercial partnerships with leading brands, such as Bridgestone, Santander and Nike. IMG will market both partner and supplier level categories.
Felix Alvarez-Garmon, senior vice-president for Latin America, US Hispanic and the Caribbean at IMG Media, said: “The Copa Libertadores is broadcast in nearly 150 countries in 30 languages, making it one of the most watched sports events on TV. This global appeal makes it a very attractive proposition for potential sponsors wanting to reach a worldwide audience.”
Colombian club Atlético Nacional won the 2016 Copa Libertadores.
