Multinational technology and consulting corporation IBM has signed a two-year deal to become the technology partner of Australian Super Rugby franchise New South Wales Waratahs.
In a deal that extends co-operation between the two parties to nine years, IBM will use its predictive analytics technologies to monitor the Waratahs’ 35-man playing squad, assisting in decision making surrounding player training load and injury prevention.
The analysis predicts the likelihood of a particular player being injured, which then enables the Waratahs’ coaching team to tailor training accordingly.
NSW Waratahs finished fifth in the 2013 Super Rugby standings.
