Australian Big Bash League cricket team the Hobart Hurricanes has named salmon farming company Tassal as a co-major sponsor ahead of the 2017-18 season of the Twenty20 competition.
The Tasmanian company has signed a two-year deal with the team covering the 2017-18 and 2018-19 campaigns.
Tassal will also serve as an official partner of the Hurricanes’ Women’s Big Bash League team and Cricket Tasmania. Terms of the deal were not disclosed but the Hurricanes said the partnership represents the biggest sponsorship agreement in the organisation’s history.
Tassal’s branding will feature on the front of the Hurricanes’ shirts as part of the agreement.
Tassal’s managing director and chief executive, Mark Ryan, said: “The benefits for Tassal are significant. Through aligning our brand with the Hobart Hurricanes, the Hurricanes nutritionist will work with us on recipes and assist to drive awareness on health and well-being benefits of salmon – one of the healthiest proteins you can eat.
“In addition, the Hurricanes’ high-performance staff will provide Tassal’s staff with training on resilience and leadership. While the Hurricanes have a profile in regional Tasmania, we plan to build on that profile, particularly in the communities in which we operate. We plan to bring Hurricanes beach cricket and summer salmon barbecues back to regional communities as part of a joint health and well-being initiative.”
