Herbalife backs new Spanish 3×3 league

US nutrition company Herbalife has agreed to title sponsor a new 3×3 league being launched by the Spanish Basketball Federation (FEB).

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the Herbalife 3×3 Series will launch later this month with an event in Murcia.

Following the opening event on June 28-29, the league will head to Gijón (July 12-13) and Tarragona (July 19-20) before a grand final is staged in Barcelona on July 26-27.

The formation of the new league comes as the 3×3 discipline prepares to make its Olympic Games debut at next year’s event in Tokyo.

President of the FEB, Jorge Garbajosa, said: “We are very excited to start a professional competition from nothing. We had 3×3 basketball promotion projects, but we needed companions and we found them with Herbalife Nutrition and Madison (Sports Marketing). 3×3 basketball and women’s sport are two of our federation’s growth lines, and a professional competition was lacking. That’s why it’s a day for history.”
