Hawks sign up Emory Healthcare for practice facility project

North American NBA basketball team the Atlanta Hawks has signed up local healthcare system Emory Healthcare to support a new project that will support the construction of a new practice facility and medical centre.

Under the deal, Emory Healthcare will acquire naming rights to the privately funded facility, with the entire roster of doctors, surgeon and specialist from Emory’s current Sports Medicine Center moving to the site to provide medical care to Hawks players.

In addition, Emory Healthcare will become the official sports medicine provider of the Hawks and will supply the team with various medical products.

When complete, the ‘P3’ facility, which will serve as the Hawks’ official practice site, will be the first training facility in the NBA to be co-located with an entire sports medicine centre.

Jonathan Lewin, president, chief executive and chairman of the board at Emory Healthcare, said: “Delivering on-site care not only will enable us to provide faster care to Hawks players, but also will enhance our ability to conduct sports performance research and translate what we learn to all athletes both professional and recreational.”
