Dutch brewing company Heineken has reached a deal with the Glasgow 2014 organising committee to become the official beer and cider of this year’s Commonwealth Games.
Under its agreement with the multi-sports event, Heineken will provide Heineken Beer and Bulmers Cider to spectators at licensed bars within official competition venues across the Scottish city.
Additionally, Heineken’s Caledonian Brewery in Edinburgh will produce a limited edition Commonwealth Games 2014 ale to retail in pubs across the UK.
The 2014 Commonwealth Games’ partnership with Heineken means it joins a sports sponsorship portfolio including the Uefa Champions League club football competition and the Rugby World Cup.
Heineken fulfilled a similar role to the one it will undertake at Glasgow 2014 throughout the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
