Insurance firm Geico has renewed its multi-faceted partnership with the International Speedway Corporation, which owns or operates a host of race tracks in North American stock car-racing series Nascar.
Under the new agreement, Geico will continue to title sponsor the Geico 500 Nascar event until 2019.
The company will also retain campground naming rights at eight ISC-owned motorsports facilities in the US.
As part of the expanded deal, Geico will take on naming rights to the restart zone at 11 tracks, including the Talladega Superspeedway in Lincoln, Alabama. Other tracks featured include Chicagoland Speedway, Darlington Raceway, Daytona International Speedway, Homestead-Miami Speedway, Kansas Speedway, Martinsville Speedway, Michigan International Speedway, Phoenix International Raceway, Richmond International Raceway and Watkins Glen International.
The new deal commenced with Nascar’s Chase double elimination weekend event, which concluded yesterday (Sunday) at Talladega.
“At Geico, we’re always looking for new ways to engage with sports fans,” Geico’s marketing vice-president Ted Ward said. “Having our branding in the restart zone is not only a Geico first, but also a first for all of Nascar. This expansion of our presence at the track underscores the success of our Nascar partnership.”
Next year’s Geico 500 will take place on May 7.
