French Champagne producer G.H. Mumm has agreed a three-year partnership with the Kentucky Derby horse racing event and its host venue Churchill Downs Racetrack.
G.H. Mumm will be the official champagne of the Kentucky Derby and Churchill Downs from this year’s race in May through to the 2017 edition.
Along with acquiring the title sponsorship of the event’s winner’s circle and the pre-race toast, G.H. Mumm Champagne will be featured as part of the victory celebrations at the Kentucky Derby and at other Churchill Downs races throughout the year. The sponsorship will also be activated in-store and online across social media platforms.
“This new partnership, with such a prestigious event as the Kentucky Derby, will further strengthen Mumm’s visibility in the US market, a key market for our house and the world of champagne,” Philippe Guettat, chairman and chief executive of G.H. Mumm Champagne, said.
The Kentucky Derby joins the Melbourne Cup in G.H. Mumm’s horse racing portfolio. It has sponsored the latter showpiece for five years.
