French women’s handball league lands Butagaz as title sponsor

French energy company Butagaz has been unveiled as the new title sponsor of the domestic Women’s Handball League.

The three-year agreement begins with the 2019-20 season and officially renames the competition as the Ligue Butagaz Energie. The deal was brokered by the Infront agency on behalf of the Ligue Francais Handball.

It marks the first time that a women’s sports competition in France has signed a title sponsor.

The agreement includes a new logo and visual identity for the league, with Butagaz to benefit from brand exposure across the competition’s full range of marketing assets. The new logo will feature on the shirts of all players and at all club grounds.

Butagaz is an existing partner of the French Handball Federation (FFHB).

The deal comes after France hosted the Women’s European Championships in 2018. France won the tournament to claim the title for the first time.
