FivePoint signs up for Ducks facility

US regional development company FivePoint has acquired the naming rights to the new practice facility of North American NHL ice hockey team the Anaheim Ducks.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but it was confirmed that the new Great Park Ice & Sports Complex will bear the name of California-based FivePoint.

Due to open in 2018, the 280,000-square-foot facility will feature four sheets of ice, while the main arena will offer seating for 2,500 spectators.

FivePoint is already committed to a number of sports-related developments in the local area, including commercial construction across 2,100 acres around Orange County Great Park in Irvine.

The firm will spend up to $250m (€237m) to develop 688 acres of the Great Park, including the Irvine Sports Park with a 2,500-seat football stadium, tennis courts, baseball and softball complexes, sand volleyball courts and flex fields for rugby, lacrosse and cricket.
