Dutch Eredivisie football club Feyenoord has signed renewable energy company Qurrent as its new shirt sponsor.
The initial four-year deal will cover the 2017-18 to 2020-21 seasons and will grant Qurrent brand exposure on the front of the Rotterdam-based club’s jerseys.
Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed, but Dutch public-service broadcaster NOS said the deal would be worth €4.5m ($4.8m) per year.
Qurrent’s logo will also feature on the front of the shirts of Feyenoord’s academy side and the Sportclub Feyenoord amateur team.
Feyenoord’s commercial director Mark Koevermans said: “We are proud and delighted to have Qurrent as our new main partner. First of all, because we can work together on the future of Feyenoord. It is also important to us as a club to take a central role in society. We already do that with our social projects and we’re now adding green and sustainability projects.
“In association with Qurrent we can show that we are more than a football club. With the green and sustainability projects we complete our social programme and show that we take our social role extremely seriously and are proud of it.”
Qurrent replaces German car manufacturer Opel as Feyenoord’s shirt sponsor. Opel became the club’s shirt sponsor in 2013, having served as its car supplier since 2010. Opel also sponsored Feyenoord between 1984 and 1989.
Feyenoord currently sits top of the Eredivisie after 30 games of the 2016-17 season.
