Vehicle rental company Europcar has extended its Official Supplier partnership with Spain’s La Vuelta Grand Tour cycling race for another year.
Under the agreement, Europcar will supply 280 vehicles, including the organisation’s medical vehicles for this year’s race. It will also supply some of the vehicles that transfer the organisation’s staff and other sponsors.
Europcar will also be present for the second consecutive year in the advertising caravan of La Vuelta, comprising more than 30 sponsored vehicles that follow the same course as the peloton.
Javier Guillén, La Vuelta’s director, said: “The Vuelta is not just about the cycling competition that millions of spectators follow from their homes. There is much more behind each stage in terms of travel, organisation and infrastructure, and for us, it is vital to have suppliers of the stature and quality of Europcar.”
This year, Europcar will reinforce its commitment to safety with the use of connected cars technology developed by Europcar, through an agreement with Telefónica, telecommunications partner of La Vuelta, and its strategic partner Geotab.
The technology will allow real-time access to the location of Europcar cars, and data on speed or potential damage, to anticipate and correct problems during and after the race.
This year’s race, from 24 August to 15 Sepetmber, will mark the 11th year of Europcar’s sponsorship of La Vuelta.
