French cycling outfit Team Europcar has been boosted by the announcement that car rental company Europcar has signed a two-year extension to its title sponsorship of the squad.
Europcar has supported the UCI Professional Continental team for the past three years, but this deal has now been extended until the end of the 2015 season. The company said the new contract will have a “particular emphasis” on visibility at international events.
Eric Dodin, general manager of Europcar France, said: “Team Europcar is a leading team and a powerful source of visibility, especially during the Tour de France. To give you an example, total top of mind awareness of the brand jumped by eight points in France following the first year of sponsorship in 2011.”
Team Europcar entered this year’s Tour de France with 21 victories under its belt this season. However, the team is yet to pick up a stage win in the 2013 Tour, with France’s Pierre Rolland its highest-placed rider in the general classification in 30th position.
