Euroleague Basketball, which organises continental club competitions in Europe, has agreed a partnership with transport app Moovit.
The deal names Moovit as Euroleague’s official mobility partner and initially covers the finale of this season’s top-tier EuroLeague competition.
Moovit will help fans arrive via public transport for playoff games in Athens, Greece; Istanbul, Turkey; Kaunas, Lithuania; Moscow, Russia; and Madrid and Vitoria-Gasteiz in Spain. The agreement also covers the EuroLeague semi-finals and the championship game at the Final Four in Belgrade, Serbia from May 18-20.
Moovit, which is available on iOS and Android devices, will send service alerts in the native languages of all teams playing each playoff and Final Four game. Alerts will provide fans with information regarding any changes in routes or timetables, along with easy-to-share links with tailored transport instructions.
The app will also include EuroLeague arenas as points of interest, as well as an extra button to connect users directly to the competition’s main website.
Moovit’s vice-president of products, Yovav Meydad, said: “Euroleague joins more than 100 other world-class sports organisations and venues like the City of Rio de Janeiro for the 2016 Olympics, AS Roma, and Uefa Euro 2016 that have made Moovit their official mobility partner or collaborated with the company to help fans worry less about getting to and from venues so they can enjoy the action and entertainment more when they’re there.”
