Irish sports store chain Elverys Sports has announced that it will continue to serve as a main sponsor of the Gaelic Athletic Association’s (GAA) Mayo County Board for the “foreseeable future” despite recent upheaval at the company.
Doubts were raised over the future of an existing sponsorship deal after Mayo-based Elverys Sports went into receivership last Friday. The company signed a four-year sponsorship agreement with the local GAA board in 2011 in a deal that includes the naming rights to Mayo GAA's McHale Park stadium.
Since the receivership announcement on Friday, Elverys has been acquired by the company’s management team, thus securing the future of all 650 employees at the firm, as well as its sponsorship deal with the local GAA board.
Mayo GAA confirmed Elverys branding would continue to be displayed on players’ jerseys as a result of the acquisition deal.
