The Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) has named electric power transmission operator EirGrid as the Irish team sponsor for its upcoming International Rules Series in Australia.
Ireland and Australia will contest a two-match international rules football series in Adelaide on November 12 and Perth on November 18.
EirGrid partnered with the GAA as series sponsor in 2015, which was held in Dublin. For this year’s series, the company will serve as Ireland's team and jersey sponsor.
GAAGO, the IPTV service operated by the GAA and Irish public-service broadcaster RTÉ, will serve as a secondary sponsor.
Rosemary Steen, director of external affairs at EirGrid, said: “This competition really is unique in that it allows the most talented Gaelic footballers in Ireland to represent our country and showcase our national games on an international stage. At EirGrid we work hand in hand with communities every day and we are very pleased to play a part in bringing GAA supporters from all over Ireland together to get behind one team; another unique attribute of the international rules competition.”
The 2015 series in Dublin was a one-off match, which Ireland won 56-52.
