German Bundesliga football club Eintracht Frankfurt has signed a one-year extension to its long-running partnership with energy group Mainova.
The new deal will cover the 2016-17 Bundesliga campaign. Mainova’s previous agreement with the club was due to expire at the end of June.
As part of the deal, the Frankfurt-based company will continue to serve as title sponsor of Eintracht’s youth football camps. Mainova will also retain its advertising rights across club media properties during Eintracht home games.
The company said it has elected to continue its backing, despite Eintracht facing the threat of relegation. The club currently sits in the Bundesliga relegation zone in 17th position.
Mainova’s chief sales officer Norbert Breidenbach said: “It will be tough and exciting weeks. By the timing of the contract renewal, we want to send a clear signal that we trust the team and the club.”
Mainova has been a partner of the club since 2002. The extension was brokered by the Lagardère Sports agency.
