Airport retailer Dubai Duty Free has signed a deal with the Golf in Dubai organisation to extend its status as a patron of the Dubai Desert Classic European Tour event for another three years.
The renewed terms are effective from the 2014 edition of the tournament, which marks its 25th anniversary with a field including Tiger Woods, Henrik Stenson and Rory McIlroy at the end of this month.
The deal underscores Dubai Duty Free’s wide-ranging involvement with top level sport in Dubai. Tennis’ ATP and WTA tours hold tournaments at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium, while the company is a supporter of the horse racing’s Dubai World Cup and the Dubai Rugby Sevens tournament.
Dubai Duty Free is a corporate patron of the Emirates Golf Federation and is the title sponsor of its UAE Nationals Cup, Golf Cup and Free Seniors Cup. It is joined on Golf in Dubai’s patron roster by Carpetland and Motivate.
Golf in Dubai is also backed by Omega, the title sponsor of the Dubai Desert Classic, and Dubal. It counts CNN, Drydocks World & Maritime World, Emirates NBD, Gulf News, Mercedes-Benz and Wasl as co-sponsors.
