Hertha Berlin has agreed a two-year sponsorship deal with insurance company Direct Line as the club prepares to make its return to the 1.Bundesliga, the top tier of German football.
The agreement takes effect from July 1 and has been brokered by the Sportfive agency. Direct Line will join AirBerlin.com, AOK, Audi, Berliner Volksbank, Carlsberg, Cashpoint, Coca-Cola and RS2 in Hertha’s exclusive partner category.
David Stachon, chief executive of Direct Line, said: “We are based just outside Berlin and many of our near-400 employees are big Hertha fans. In this way the decision to become a new partner was relatively easy. As one of the traditional clubs in the Bundesliga, Hertha BSC is the ideal partner and an attractive platform for the distribution of our insurance benefits.”
Having been relegated from the 1.Bundesliga in 2009-10, Hertha sealed its return to the top division last season by winning the 2.Bundesliga title.
