Italian fashion label Diesel has entered into a partnership with Indian Premier League Twenty20 cricket franchise the Mumbai Indians.
As part of the agreement, Diesel will produce a limited edition range of Mumbai Indians-branded clothing. Financial terms of the partnership, which marks Diesel’s first in cricket, were not disclosed.
Diesel’s first clothing range will be released later this year before a second collection goes on sale in the spring of 2017. The range will be available to purchase in major cricketing nations such as England, South Africa and Australia, as well as in Diesel’s 11 Indian stores.
Mumbai Indians owner Nita Ambani said: “It’s a momentous step for Mumbai Indians to be recognised as the most preferred global brand partner, becoming the first sports club from India to expand its footprint globally.”
Diesel founder Renzo Rosso added: “The religion of cricket in India and internationally amazes me. This unique collaboration with Mumbai Indians is an opportunity to fuse the Diesel creativity with the emotion and passion of the Mumbai Indians fans globally. The opportunity here is sky high and I am truly excited.”
