Reigning Caribbean Premier League champion Jamaica Tallawahs has unveiled Appleton Estate Jamaica Rum as its presenting sponsor for the 2014 season.
Appleton Estate manufacturer Wray & Nephew served as an associate sponsor to the Tallawahs during the inaugural season of the Twenty20 cricket league last year.
Cecil Smith, marketing manager at Wray & Nephew, told the Jamaica Gleaner newspaper: “Last season, we sponsored the Tallawahs for the first time in an exploratory way. It was the first year of the league and new, and we did not want to go in 100 per cent until we figured out what was going on. However, having gone in, and seen that the team is a great team, and the league is well appreciated by the Jamaican public, we decided to go all out this year.”
The Appleton Estate logo will feature on the front of playing jerseys and other clothing worn by Tallawahs players and staff. The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Jamaica Tallawahs opens the defence of its title against St Lucia Zouks at Grenada National Stadium on July 13.
