Tyre manufacturer Cooper has extended its partnership with the World Rallycross Championship motor racing series.
Cooper will serve as the series’ official tyre supplier for the three-year period spanning the 2017 to 2019 seasons. The company reached the agreement with the International Motorsport Federation (FIA), which sanctions the series.
Cooper will be granted extensive brand exposure on race days as part of the deal.
The FIA in April launched a tender for offers to take on the role of official tyre supplier, with Cooper having won out over an unnamed second company. The FIA said it took the decision to select a single tyre supplier in order to reduce participation costs for teams, ensure sporting equity and safety, and guarantee the best possible product.
Cooper first teamed up with the series ahead of its inaugural season in 2014. Its three-year agreement was due to expire at the end of the 2016 campaign.
