Qatari private banking group Commercial Bank has announced a three-year extension to its title sponsorship of the Qatar Masters golf tournament.
The deal is effective from 2016 and will run until the 2018 edition of the European Tour event. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Doha Golf Club hosts the 2015 Qatar Masters this week, with a prize fund of $2.5 (€2m) up for grabs as Spain’s Sergio Garcia (pictured) defends his title and Commercial Bank marks 10 years as the title partner.
Abdulla Saleh Al Raisi, chief executive of Commercial Bank, said: “We have worked for a decade with our partners including the Qatar Golf Association, Qatar Olympic Committee, the European Tour and Doha Golf Club to help establish the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters into one of Qatar’s greatest sporting spectacles and our continued support is part of our commitment to the Qatar National Vision 2030."
Keith Waters, chief operating officer of the European Tour, added: “The Desert Swing has been a key factor in the growth of golf in Qatar and the Middle East, and Commercial Bank’s support of the Qatar Masters is key to this development.”
