China National Petroleum Corporation and China Petrochemical Corporation (Sinopec Group) have agreed deals to become official oil and gas partners of the 2022 winter Olympic and Paralympic Games in Beijing.
CNPC and Sinopec will both serve as top-tier sponsors of Beijing 2022, sharing marketing rights in the oil and gas category. Both companies also sponsored the 2008 summer Olympics in Beijing.
The deals bring the total number of Beijing 2022 official partners to eight, with CNPC and Sinopec joining Bank of China, Air China, Yili Group, Anta, China Unicom and Shougang Group.
“CNPC will take advantage of its strong presence in Beijing, Hebei and nearby areas to provide Beijing 2022 with high-quality and reliable oil and gas supplies,” Zhang Jianhua, general manager of CNPC, said.
Dai Houliang, board chairman of Sinopec Group, added: “Sinopec Group will cherish this second opportunity to serve the Olympics by actively taking part in Beijing 2022’s venue construction and supplying the Games with important resources such as clean energy.”
