Major League Baseball team Chicago Cubs has signed a multi-year sponsorship agreement with grill manufacturer Weber.
Under the deal, Weber becomes the official grill of Chicago Cubs and benefits from prominent branding in the form of a silhouette of its round grill on the left centre-field wall at the team’s Wrigley Field home.
Meanwhile, the Cubs have also agreed a one-year deal with the Kraft Foods Group to operate its Decade Diner at the right field line.
Other food partners of Chicago Cubs include Dunkin’ Donuts and pizzeria Giordano’s – the latter of which secured a three-year agreement in February.
None of these brands feature in the Cubs’ legacy partner programme – the franchise’s top tier of sponsorship comprised of sportswear manufacturer Under Armour, brewery Anheuser-Busch and Starwood Hotels & Resorts.
Chicago Cubs open their Wrigley Field campaign for 2014 against Philadelphia Phillies tonight, with the game marking the beginning of 100th anniversary celebrations at the ballpark.
