Building materials company HIL has agreed a sponsorship deal with Indian Premier League franchise the Chennai Super Kings, which is making a comeback in the Twenty20 cricket competition following a two-year absence.
HIL’s branding will appear on the team’s kit as part of the two-year agreement.
HIL’s Birla Aerocon and Charminar brands will also receive exposure on the kit, according to the Hindu Business Line newspaper.
Dhirup Roy Choudhary, HIL managing director and chief executive, said: “HIL and CSK are champion brands. We are confident that it will bring in a new wave of awareness for HIL and its products and provide a fresh take to evolve the market for HIL.”
The Super Kings will return to the IPL in 2018 after being suspended during the 2016 and 2017 campaigns for the team’s role in the spot-fixing scandal that hit the 2013 edition of the tournament.
Super Kings and India stars Mahendra Singh Dhoni (pictured), Suresh Raina and Ravindra Jadeja have all signed on for the team’s return.
