The Formula E electric car-racing series has agreed a new partnership with EV charging points supplier Chargemaster.
Under the terms of the deal, the length of which was undisclosed, Chargemaster will be the official charging infrastructure supplier to the championship, which commences its 2015-16 season with the Beijing ePrix in China on Saturday.
The agreement means that Chargemaster will supply the wireless charging facilities for the championship’s fleet of EV course cars, which are supplied by BMW. In addition, Chargemaster will leave permanent EV charging stations in the host cities of the races as part of their role in Formula E’s legacy programme.
Alejandro Agag, chief executive of Formula E, said: “Chargemaster is the leading provider and operator of electric vehicle charging equipment in the UK and with their assistance we can further promote the take-up of EVs in the cities that Formula E visits across the globe.”
