Champagne returns to Formula One podiums

Champagne Carbon has agreed a deal to become an official supplier of the Formula One motor-racing championship.

The length of the agreement, which began with yesterday’s (Sunday’s) Hungarian Grand Prix, was not disclosed.

As part of the deal, Carbon’s products will be used during drivers’ podium celebrations at the end of each race weekend.

The drivers who finish first, second and third will be given gold, silver and bronze bottles, respectively.

Carbon’s bottles are coated with the same type of carbon fibre used to make F1 cars.

F1 had been using sparkling wine instead of champagne for its end-of-race celebrations since its partnership with Mumm ended in 2015.
