The Ladies Professional Golf Association and Golf Canada have announced a three-year partnership with Canadian Pacific to make the transcontinental railway company the new title sponsor of the Canadian Women’s Open.
Canadian Pacific will replace Canadian National Railway Company, which has backed the tournament for the past eight years.
The event heads to the London Hunt and Country Club in London, Ontario on August 21-24 next year and the prize fund is set to be increased to $2.25m (€1.65m) under Canadian Pacific’s sponsorship, making it one of the top four purses on the LPGA Tour.
New Zealand teenager Lydia Ko will return to Canada as the event’s two-time defending champion and will be a rookie next season on the LPGA Tour after being granted membership last month.
