Government-owned bank Caixa Economica Federal has signed a shirt sponsorship deal with Botafogo, and is also said to be close to agreeing a similar deal with fellow Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A football club Fluminense.
Caixa’s agreement with Botafogo will result in its branding appearing on the front of the team’s shirts. Botafogo said the deal would cover the club’s “next games” and includes the option for an extension.
The Maquina do Esporte website reported that Fluminense’s deal would be announced at some point this week. In a statement yesterday (Tuesday), Caixa said it is in talks to support the training centre of the club, which will open in October, along with “individual sponsorship” per game.
Caixa has a strong presence in Brazilian football and holds shirt sponsorship deals with Atlético Goianiense, Atlético Mineiro, Atlético Paranaense, Bahia, Corinthians, Coritiba, Chapecoense, CRB, Cruzeiro, Goiás, Figueirense, Flamengo, Sport, Vasco and Vitória. The bank said it has invested R$128.5m (€35.3m/$39.4m) in football club sponsorship so far this year.
