Brooklyn Nets score Chinese deals

NBA basketball team Brooklyn Nets has signed sponsorship deals with sportswear company Anta and digital products distributor Lava Tech to enhance its presence in the Chinese market.

Under the agreements, the two Chinese companies will be granted courtside, television visible electronic signage during Nets’ home games at the Barclays Center for the remainder of the 2014-15 season.

The deals were finalised during the Nets’ visit to China last month, where the team played in Shanghai and Beijing as part of the NBA Global Games initiative.

Brooklyn Nets and Barclays Center chief executive Brett Yormark said, according to the China Daily newspaper: “Our goal is to be a global team, and in order to be global, you need to be relevant in China. These partnerships help fulfil that objective.”

In October Anta became an official marketing and merchandise partner of NBA China and the manufacturer has held an endorsement deal since August 2010 with Nets player Kevin Garnett.
