Automotive manufacturer BMW has been unveiled as a global partner of the America’s Cup sailing event.
The deal will cover events leading up to and including the 2017 America’s Cup match.
BMW will also support Oracle Team USA as a technology partner as the team seeks to win the cup for the third consecutive time. BMW will provide support in fields such as aerodynamics as part of the agreement.
Americas Cup Event Authority chief executive Russell Coutts said: “BMW is one of the most iconic global brands, with tremendous vision and a groundbreaking attitude which can only enhance the America’s Cup.”
