Axalta Coating Systems has extended its partnership with MotoGP World Championship motorcycling team Yamaha Factory Racing.
Under the new agreement, Axalta’s Cromax brand will continue to serve as an official sponsor and supplier of the team for the 2017 season. The new deal extends Cromax’s association with Yamaha to eight years.
Cromax’s branding features on the bikes of Yamaha riders Valentino Rossi and Maverick Vinales as part of the agreement, with the company’s paints used in the garage and hospitality areas on race days.
Cromax’s paint systems are also used on the support trucks as well as on the mechanics’ toolboxes, workbenches and other pit-lane equipment.
Marco Brioschi, Axalta’s country leader for refinish in Italy, said: “Thanks to so many shared objectives – especially speed, productivity and professionalism – we are a long-standing official sponsor of Movistar Yamaha MotoGP team. Our experience in a wide variety of motorsport disciplines around the world means we are a strong and able partner and we look forward to continuing our support this season.”
The 2017 MotoGP season continued yesterday (Sunday) with its third event of the campaign, the Grand Prix of The Americas, in Austin, Texas. Rossi’s second-place finish moved him to top of the riders’ championship.
