German automotive manufacturer Audi has been named as the title sponsor of the 2017-18 edition of the International Skating Union’s World Cup Short Track Speed Skating series.
The 2017-18 World Cup series begins in September and comprises four events, which will serve as qualifiers for the 2018 winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, Korea.
The Hungarian capital of Budapest will play host from September 28 to October 1, before Dordrecht in the Netherlands stages a leg from October 5-8. Shanghai, China will host an event from November 9-12 before the series concludes in Seoul, Korea from November 16-19.
ISU president Jan Dijkema said: “Audi is (a) synonym of performance and quality, and FAW-VW Audi’s decision to become an ISU sponsor is a recognition of the attractiveness of short track speed skating and of the ISU World Cup series. We strongly believe that the relationship will be mutually beneficial. FAW-VW Audi’s sponsorship will start with the all-important short track speed skating Olympic qualifying events which is a perfect timing for both parties.”
