Japanese sports equipment and footwear provider Asics has agreed a five-year extension to its contract as the main sponsor of the Frankfurt Marathon.
As part of the new agreement, which will run from 2016 to 2020, the company will continue to provide equipment for the race’s 2,000 volunteers and offer a range of services for runners.
“The five-year extension offers us the chance to advance the oldest German city marathon together,” Jo Schindler, race director of the Frankfurt Marathon, said.
The Frankfurt Marathon is one of the races granted ‘gold label’ status by the International Association of Athletics (IAAF). The 34th edition of the event took place yesterday (Sunday). Sisay Lemma and Gulume Tollesa became the first Ethiopian duo to win both the men's and women's races.
