English Premier League football club Arsenal has entered into a partnership with solar energy company Octopus.
The long-term deal names Octopus as Arsenal’s official energy partner in the UK.
Octopus will develop renewable power supplies for Arsenal, and the club’s Emirates Stadium home ground, as part of the agreement.
UK-based Arsenal fans will also be offered a new Octopus tariff that will provide them with the same renewable electricity that is set to power Emirates Stadium. Official signed merchandise and stadium tours will be among the benefits for supporters that join Octopus.
In return, Octopus branding will feature at Emirates Stadium during all domestic fixtures, while the company will benefit from hospitality packages on some match days. Octopus will also receive access to Arsenal’s digital channels and run promotional and marketing initiatives featuring first-team players.
“This partnership with Octopus is a positive step towards improving our contribution to environmental sustainability,” Vinai Venkatesham, Arsenal’s chief commercial officer, said. “We will be working closely with them to develop renewable power supplies, as well as providing special offers for Arsenal fans in the UK. We look forward to supporting Octopus Energy in the growth of their business.”
