The Dublin County Board of the Gaelic Athletics Association has signed a five-year sponsorship agreement with American insurance giant AIG.
Under the terms of the deal, which is effective from November 1, AIG takes on the jersey sponsorship of Dublin GAA’s hurling and Gaelic football teams at all levels after the outgoing sponsor, telecommunications provider Vodafone, opted to end its own agreement with the county a year early.
For the first time, Dublin’s ladies Gaelic football and female hurling equivalent, camogie, also come under the umbrella sponsorship.
Official figures for the deal have not been disclosed but reports in the Irish Independent newspaper suggest it will be worth in excess of €4m ($5.34m) over the five-year period – a record amount for an inter-county sponsorship.
