Japanese sports equipment manufacturer Yonex has renewed its partnership with the Australian Open tennis tournament.
Terms of the extended deal were not disclosed, but it was confirmed that the agreement will cover this year’s edition of the grand slam event, which takes place from January 15-28.
Yonex will retain its role as the official stringer for the tournament and provide stringing services to competitors at the event. The company expects to perform more than 5,000 restrings from the qualifying rounds through to the final round.
In addition, the company will stage the ‘Yonex String Performance Challenge’, an interactive contest that challenges fans at the event to string racquets.
Yonex began its support of the Australian Open in 2016.
