Insurance company Admiral has agreed a two-year extension to its status as the main sponsor of the Welsh Rugby Union.
The Cardiff-headquartered company has had its logo emblazoned across the chest of the Welsh national team shirt since November 2010, and this partnership will now continue until 2017.
Financial terms of the new deal were not disclosed, but the WRU said that it would represent the biggest shirt sponsorship contract in its history. Admiral has also extended its support of the senior Wales women’s team, which will now also carry the firm’s logo on their playing strip until 2017.
Admiral employs more than 7,000 people at its offices in Wales, Spain, Italy, France, USA, Canada and India and uses its sponsorship of Wales' national sport primarily to reward and incentivise staff.
Events like player visits to Admiral offices, exclusive access to the national squad and previews of kit launches and press announcements are set to continue.
WRU chief executive Roger Lewis said: “Their take on sponsorship of the Wales national team is a unique one and we have worked hard together on developing a programme which meets their specific needs.”
