The World Rally Championship motorsport series has entered into a partnership with Spanish technology company Nano Nino.
The multi-year deal names Nano Nino as an official supplier of the WRC, which is sanctioned by the International Automobile Federation (FIA).
As part of the agreement, WRC will launch an exclusive membership scheme with Nano Nino. The WRC P1 scheme will provide members with a promotional WRC fan card, along with the chance to apply for a pre-paid credit card.
Ownership of cards will provide fans with savings when purchasing items with selected WRC partners and official series outlets. The partnership covers the WRC’s online shop and the WRC+ streaming platform.
The pre-paid credit card will be available in mid-September. The WRC said the cards can be used like a regular debit or credit card and will be accepted by most retailers.
Members who join the WRC P1 scheme will be entered into exclusive prize draws, with fans to be given the chance to win a trip to the final round of the WRC season in Australia in November. Other prizes will include a WRC passenger ride at a round of the 2019 championship.
The scheme will cost €60 ($70), which includes six months of free access to the top-level WRC+ package, featuring WRC All Live, worth €54. The six-month free period can be activated when the user chooses.
Nano Nino founder Manna Justin said: “We intend to use our core technology areas such as Fintech, Cloud Mobile, AI and Big Data to engage and enhance the fan experience. Having been a lifelong rally fan, this collaboration is exciting on a personal level as well as it takes me closer to the action in one of the finest, purest and most extreme forms of motorsport.
“Most sponsors and suppliers to the WRC have confirmed their participation in the savings scheme which will bring the WRC’s partners even closer to the championship’s huge and loyal fan base.”
