Automotive manufacturer Jeep has signed a long-term extension to its global partnership with the World Surf League.
Jeep will retain its position as the official and exclusive global automotive partner of the WSL, and continue to hold naming rights to the WSL Jeep Leaders Tour Rankings for the men’s and women’s Championship Tour.
The new multi-year agreement will run through 2020, where surfing will be contested at an Olympic Games for the first time in Tokyo.
As part of the deal, Jeep will continue to sponsor the yellow Leader Jersey, and benefit from branding across both digital and broadcast graphics. A special locker-room design for Jeep front-runners has also been designed.
Related content will also be created, while on-site activations are planned to promote the partnership. Additionally, the WSL’s top surfers at the end of each year will be awarded a Jeep vehicle.
Jeep will sponsor six WSL Qualifying Series events around the world, including the Pro Casablanca, which gets underway today (Tuesday) and runs until Sunday. Other events include the Hurley Pro, Billabong Pipe Masters, Swatch Pro and Maui Women’s Pro.
A dedicated section will also be set up on Jeep’s website to allow fans to track competitors’ progress.
Jeep first partnered with the WSL in May 2015.
