Specialist cameras brand iON Action Cameras has agreed a partnership with the World Rallycross Championship (World RX) ahead of the motor-racing series’ inaugural season.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but iON Cameras becomes the official action camera of World RX and an official partner to the championship’s ‘Spotters’ Tower’ – an interactive pit wall to be featured in the international race broadcasts.
Beginning with the season-opening round at Montalegre, Portugal on May 3-4, iON Cameras will capture exclusive in-car footage and behind the scenes action.
Giovanni Tomaselli, chief executive of iON America, said: “Both World RX and iON Cameras are undergoing a significant period of growth and we felt that a partnership would be mutually beneficial. We firmly believe that iON Cameras can help enhance a TV product that is already appealing to broadcasters across the world.”
In February, iON Cameras began a three-year collaboration with English Premier League football team Manchester City.
